Orlando to Jacksonville: a mid-length run up the coast

Jacksonville is the northern end of our long-distance moves within Florida. At just under three hours of driving, many moves are loaded in the morning and unloaded later the same day. Bigger homes may be unloaded the next morning. Jacksonville also covers a very large area, so where you land in the city affects the timing as much as the highway does.

One crew and one truck do the whole job. Your belongings are not brokered or moved onto another truck along the way. The move is quoted as one flat, all-in written rate covering labor, truck, fuel and mileage.

What's included

  • Flat, all-in written rate
  • Same crew from pickup to delivery
  • No broker and no load transfers
  • Usually same or next day delivery
  • Full padding and wrapping for the highway
  • Packing and unpacking available
  • Short-term holds if your new place isn't ready
  • Moves within Florida only

The route: I-4 east, then I-95 north

From our office on Rose Blvd, the truck takes I-4 east through Orlando, past Sanford and across the St. Johns River into Volusia County, then joins I-95 north near Daytona Beach. From there it runs past St. Augustine into Jacksonville. That is about 146 miles and roughly two hours and fifty minutes with no traffic. I-4 through downtown Orlando and I-95 near Daytona and St. Augustine can slow down, so we plan the start time around them.

A big city split by the St. Johns River

Jacksonville is the largest city by land area in the continental United States, and the St. Johns River runs through the middle of it. Driving from one side to the other means crossing one of the river bridges, and a delivery to the beaches is a very different run from one to the Westside. Give us your exact new address early so we can plan the last part of the drive. Older neighborhoods near the river, such as Riverside, Avondale and San Marco, have tree-lined streets that can be tight for a box truck. Beach towns can have narrow streets and strict parking, and many newer suburbs have HOA move rules. Tell us what applies at your new home.

Where in the Jacksonville area we deliver

We deliver to Jacksonville and the surrounding area in Duval County. Tell us your new neighborhood when you call, or call 407-440-1423 to check an address. Leaving from north of Orlando? See our Sanford and Lake Mary pages, both on the I-4 route. We also run Orlando to Tampa and Orlando to Miami moves.

  • Street access and parking for a box truck
  • HOA move rules in newer neighborhoods
  • Building rules and insurance certificates for apartments
  • Whether you want same-day or next-morning unloading
  • Items to pack for a three-hour drive
